With the changes to the meta in the UK scene, I have finally sold my soul and am playing Epic Deneghra. I've had the model since I got in to Warmachine, but never really used her as the Goth Wedding Barbie looks just bugs me.
I'm starting a new scheme for my army (hopefully this is the last one) so this is the test piece for the scheme. The green cloth and glow is a departure, and I am trying to up my blending and contrast across the army.
I still need to hit the model with some varnish, then add the last few light hits, but she is ready for the table at the very least, which is just as well as I am using her in an event next week.
Hopefully I will get her companion jack Nightmare finished up in the new scheme...

[Commission) Menoth Vassal
Just finished up a Menoth Vassal as part of the Welsh Open army give away. I think I posted the jack I painted a while ago, can't really remember.
Anyway, this was pretty quick and dirty, took about two hours give or take. The whites are obviously pretty stark, but there is a certain charm to the model.
I also managed to paint two more of the Dreadball commission I am working on, but the pictures are terrible so I will save those for another day.
Finally, among all that I managed to get some more work done on my Nightmare repaint. Not sure why I am repainting this guy in a new scheme, that is not the new scheme for my army, but hey ho. Lots of two brush blending and washes going on here, still a little rough in patches, but its a good step forward. Certainly good practice for the Covergence of Cyriss...

[Personal Work] Of Elves and Alligators
One of the things I have realised recently is that I own a lot of models... not as many as I used to, but still far too many. Even worse, many of these are not even built. They have never seen the table or had dice rolled in anger against them. That's just sad and has to change!
It may have come to your attention by now that Cryx is my one true love these days, and much of my pile of lead (all gamers have one right?) is comprised of masses of thralls in bits. Sort of apt really, a pile of body parts waiting the mad necrosurgeon (or in this case me) to come along and breath unlife into them.
Despite my love of all things Zombie, the infantry swarm of yore is falling by the wayside to an extent at the moment. Something to do with giant electric blue robots and irritating blonde pole dancers or something...
So us Lich Lords are having to come up with new ideas in the fight against the living. Enter the mercs.
I was a purist for MKI, but sadly you can only fight the inevitable for so long. I have been picking up various merc solos and units for a while now and slowly slotting them in to my forces. Interestingly, most of the mercs I own are ranged... says something about Cryx I think.
To that end I am currently in the process of adding a full unit of Nyss Hunters, as well as Wrong Eye and Snapjaw to my current army list. Ok, the Voodoo Croc is not known for his ranged game, but he trumps the ranged meta brilliantly by ignoring it completely, hiding in his portable ponds with his overgrown handbag of a friend.
The Nyss bring both melee and ranged potential. CRA and hunter let me deal with some annoying things at range rather than up close, but they can always go in swinging with those claymores if it gets up close and personal.
While I am a fair way from putting paint on either of these options yet, assembly is going well. WEaSJ are done awaiting greenstuff, and I have done four of the elves. Considering these are comprised of 7-8 pieces each (all of which are pinned on mine) I am doing well. I am even adding all the optional extras to every model, so that's 3-4 parts on top of everything else.
So, raw fingers covered in glue, and still over half the unit to go... but I am hoping to bring them to battle tomorrow so I better press on.
While the glue was drying on SnapJaw I also found some time to continue my work on the ebay Nuln army. Nothing that impressive yet as I am overpainting some older minis, but the lack of actual paint in a blogpost would upset me, so this is better than nothing.
I should finish these up early next week, then its on to that Dreadball team that is on my desk I guess...

[Personal Work] Cryx Solos
End of the month (or start of the new month) and time to put up my entries for the PP forums painting challenge.
Each month I have to paint 5 points of models for my army. I've made most months, but skipped at least one... its amazing I can barely get five points done in one month, but what can you do.
These guys took a swim in the paint stripper and are nice new schemes. I'm starting a new colour scheme for my Cryx and the Pistol Wraith is the first of the new scheme. Still need to iron out a few kinks, but he's good enough for the table.
Oh, and no the blue smudge on the back of the bloat thrall is not supposed to be there. Need to clean that up before I varnish him.
Hope you like them.

[From the Workbench] Bloat Thrall
I've been plugging away at my repaint of the PP bloat thrall for a few days now. There is so much flesh to this model that its quite an intimidating one to paint.
Still lots of work and some clean up to do but he's slowly coming together. Not sure how well he will turn out, but he's never really fielded at the moment so he doesn't have to be top notch.
So, here are some shots as work was carried out on the mini.
Enjoy...

[Personal Work] Finished Cannon Crew
Well, its been a fun ride, and now the first of my Rev cannons are done.
Zombie Han Solo will hopefully bring sharpshooting skills to bear and they will do me proud on the battlefield.
One more to paint, and I guess I should repaint my Captain Rengrave as together they make for a pretty decent shooting unit.
Enjoy.

[Personal Work] More cannon work.
Been plugging away on the crew some more. Hopefully one more session and they will be ready to base up . Then I get to work on the second one...
This guy makes me think of Han Solo for some reason.
And the Michel Jackson fan.
This is team blue by the way... team red will follow.

[Personal Work] Fire the port cannons.
Been plugging away at some stuff for my Cryx force. I'm finally admitting that I need some firepower as the old tactic of run across the table and hope to get to the other side no longer works so well.
These guys are critically undervalues, potential RAT 8 ignoring LOS and remove from play makes them a lot better than people give them credit for. I've got two on the go, but this is where we are up to so far.
I love painting pirates, and its been fun trying to up my metals on the cannons. Still need to add some weathering, but its getting there.

[Personal Work]
I'm not dead!
Sorry I've not posted much recently, work, life etc has got on top of me... usual excuses.
So, to kick things off again, here are some pictures of some of my recent personal work. More pictures to follow after this weekend. I'm off to my first 16 man tourney of the year, and the next few weeks are going to be pretty busy on the event front, so might pick up some more trophies if I am lucky.
I have a cool comission that I need to get cracking on, but until my 50pt Cryx list is done, I can't really focus on anything else, so you will have to wait for that one.

WIP P Skarre.
Just to let everyone know I am still alive. I'm working on P Skarre for the ETC which is next week. I've got a thread going on the PP site where you can follow the progress if you like:
http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?67479-Paint-along-P-Skarre.
In other news, my next comission has arrived, five Necron Immortals and a Tomb Spyder. Work will begin on them shortly.

Part of the ship, part of the crew.
Not a commission (more of them soon, I've had some cool requests coming in), but some personal stuff for my ETC army.
I enjoyed painting these guys a lot, hopefully it shows.

Personal project. Black Ogrun
IN amongst painting for everyone else, I do find some time to paint my own stuff. With the Welsh open in less than ten days time, I wanted an entry for the single figure at least (best painted army might be beyond my grasp this year, depends on work over the next few days).
I'm also attending the ETC as part of "Team Paint", working on a pirate themed Cryx army.So a model that would be part of both events wouldn't be a bad idea.
I've had this guy 90% done for weeks now, but finally found the time to finish him off.
One thing I did since my earlier photos was glaze all his skin (apart form the face). I had gone a bit too far with my highlighting and it didn't look natural enough. A few very thin glazes of the original skin tone mellowed that out nicely. I'm going to investigate the effect glazing will have on my work a bit more going forward, usually I just throw a GW wash on and have done with it, but for display quality, this seems to be a bit smoother and avoids any glossing issues.
I also used some graded washing on the weapon to give it some colour. Both for the rust and the shadows. This might be the breakthrough I needed to improve my jacks. I have a ripjaw on my desk for practice (I own six of the little buggers now) so he might get some paint love soon, perhaps as a warm up for Malice.
So here is the leader of the Black Ogrun (or monkey pirates as I call them)
Picture isn't great, I don't get enough light in my room at the moment. I need to invest in a proper light setup. Anyone want to take out some commissions so I can afford some better lights?
